My menstrual flow is very heavy and disturbs

Question: My menstrual flow is very heavy and disturbs my activity at work during this period. I have gone for a scan and no abnormal findings was seen. What can I do.

Doctors Response: Abnormal vaginal bleeding is a common issue amongst women. Its cause varies from hormonal issues to uterine and cervical disease. When no pathology is identified it is described as dysfunctional uterine bleeding. Doing a cervical screen and endometrial biopsy will help rule out cervical and uterine diseases. A transvaginal scan will also be necessary to check your ovaries as well as hormonal assay. If no pathology is seen, your Gynecologist may recommend a hormonal such as mirena (progesterone containing intrauterine device) which has the ability to reduce menstrual flow.
