Over two million death are recorded yearly in Nigeria for delayed immunization and sad enough there are vaccines that could prevent these death. Child mortality in Nigeria is about three million each year. So joy knew no bounds when Bill Gate and Dangote met with some Northern States Governors on Wednesday.

The various governors signed memorandum of Understanding with Bill Gate foundation and Dangote Foundation in the pursuit to strengthen regular immunization of Polio and other diseases in the Northern Nigeria and other States. While speaking today, Bill said his main aim is to see to complete eradication of Polio and other disease in Nigeria, Africa and globally by partnership with various government.

Mr Aliko Dangote commended the various State governments for the routine immunization and assured his continually support to the health sector. He also used the medium to announce the extension of his partnership with Kano State government by another one year for immunization against Polio.

The States that is to benefit immediately from these partnership are Kaduna, Borno, Sokoto and Bauchi. Also present at the venue was Minister of Health, various governors, traditional rulers, diplomats and other relevant stake holders. UNICEF Country Rep; Jean Gough also witnessed the signing of the MoU and said is another sustainable approach to regular immunization.

The foundations are to render both technical supports and financial assistance in the various States. With this, the foundations hope that by 2020 about 80% coverage would have been achieved in the area of immunization.
