My menstrual period is always so painful that I don’t go to work during the period.

Question: My menstrual period is always so painful that I don’t go to work during the period. My menses is also heavy but the pain is what is so disturbing. I usually. Don’t look forward to my menses. The worst part of it is that I learnt this can hinder conception. My GP called it endometriosis. What I can I do?

Doctors Response:

Endometriosis is known for itz severe pain it causes during menses (dysmenorrhea). It is also causes pain on micturition (dysuria), pain during sexual intercourse (dyspareunia) and pain on defecation (dyschezia). It is also associated with heavy menstrual flow (menorrhagia). When it affects the ovaries it causes endometrioma and this may prevent egg release from the ovaries causing infertility. You will need to consult a gynaecologist and a fertility specialist for objective assignment and proper management.
