Causes of constipation in Pregnancy

Constipation occurs when there is abdominal pain or discomfort, difficult and infrequent bowel movements, and the passage of hard stools. Unfortunately, constipation affects approximately half of all women at some point during their pregnancy.  It is considered one of the earliest signs of pregnancy, especially when it occurs along with nausea, dizziness, mood swings and food cravings. Constipation is a condition of the digestive system.

Causes

Low-fiber diet 

Relaxation of intestinal muscle hormones (Progesterone) 

Pressure of the expanding uterus on the intestines

Consumption of drug especially iron tablets

Dehydration

Pelvic pain during pregnancy

Stress

Lack of exercise

Symptoms 

Less than three bowel movements in a week

Hard feces

Occasional rectal bleeding due to hard feces

Low appetite

Lower abdominal bloating, pain or cramps

Natural Remedies to Relieve Constipation during Pregnancy

Drinking lukewarm water mixed lemon in the morning

Eating plenty of dry fruits

Maintain regular sleeping and eating schedule.

Exercise regularly

Walking for around 20-30 minutes at least 2 to 3 times every week stimulates bowel motility. 

Drink enough water to keep you well hydrated 

Eat high fiber diet
