Biliary stasis is the reduction or absence of bile production or secretion into the gut. As it known, bile is essential for the breakdown of fats within the food. Biliary reflux is the back-flow of bile up the small intestine and into the stomach and esophagus.

Causes of biliary stasis 

Gallstones

Cholecystitis (inflammation of the gallbladder)

Cholecystectomy (surgical removal of the gallbladder)

Gallbladder cancer

Hepatitis

Cirrhosis

Causes of Biliary Reflux:

Dysfunctional pyloric valve

Peptic ulcers

Cholecystectomy

Symptoms 

Pain in the upper right quadrant of the abdomen

Nausea

Vomiting

Belching

Bloating

Weight loss

Anorexia

Diagnosis

Blood test to show enzyme level

Endoscopy

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

Treatment 

Drug therapy 

Avoid any dietary contributing to liver disease

Avoid consumption of drugs that damage the liver and alcohol
