I noticed a swelling in my lower jaw about a year now…

Question

I noticed a swelling in my lower jaw about a year now. I was initially not bothered because it was not painful. Recently  I noticed the swelling is increasing and I feel slight pain now. Should I be worried?

Doctor’s Response:
Yes you should be worried. A jaw growth isn’t something to be ignored like in your case..Jaw growth could be cystic lesions, salivary gland enlargement , jaw tumours among others. A painless growth that is now painful could mean that an infection has set in. Make the next available appointment with your dental surgeon, for proper investigation, diagnosis and surgical intervention.
