WHAT’S UP WITH BLACK WOMEN’S BREAST?

A RECENT STUDY SHOWS THAT EARLY CHEMO MIGHT BE LESS BENEFICIAL FOR BREAST CANCER IN BLACK WOMEN!

Early chemotherapy is less likely to benefit black women with breast cancer than those in other racial and ethnic groups as found in a recent study reported by Robert Preidt –Healthday news.

Black women have been found with advanced cases of breast cancer and thus chemotherapy is received before the surgery to increase the success rate of the surgery. A total number of 27,300 breast cancer cases were subjected to back up this research.



Despite the controlled of the ‘fact that minority women often present with more advanced- stage, higher-grade tumors and more aggressive types of breast cancer , our team was surprised to find that black women did not respond as well to neoadjuvant chemotherapy compared to other racial groups’- Brigid Killeelea, an associate professor of surgery

Lannin is of the opinion that more researches need to be done soonest on the area of drugs which will work perfectly for black woman. He suggested having so many black women for this trials. This should be done so that black women can benefit from new set of drugs as they are being developed with various outcome of researches.
