Total hip arthroplasty (THA ) should not be performed within three months of hip injection to avoid elevated risk of infection, this is the recent developments according to the largest population study on the subject.
The study is ” the first to provide strong evidence of an increased risk of periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) when an injection is administered within 12 weeks before THA . It appears safe if performed more than three months pre operatively,said Dr. William, the author of the study.
