They are even called ‘raped drugs’ on the streets but the companies that manufacture them do not do so for that purpose. Some drugs are not just meant to be available to buy over the counter or online without doctor’s prescription and thus I found this rather annoying that these drugs made their ways to the street.

During the week, a friend sent me a message to address this issue with a broadcast all over my social media on how rapists use these drugs to hurt our girls. I felt it was not news any more. The truth is that rape will always be new to the victims and there can never be too much on rape. It is an evil act that still exists in the society globally. Read her broadcast below;‘’A woman was taken by 5 men, who according to hospital and police report was raped by a gang before being dumped at a bus station! Though she was unable to remember the events of the previous evening, tests conducted revealed that she had been raped repeatedly. There was a trace of Rohypnol in her blood. Rohypnol, is presently being used as a date rape drug. It is actually a small sterilization pill which is now being used by rapists to drug their targets at parties. The drug makes the mind of the target (would be victim) go blank so that she does not remember anything that transpired and worse still, the drug sterilizes the victim so that she doesn’t conceive from the rape and the rapist need not worry about having his identity revealed later by a paternity test.

The real bad news is that the drug’s side effects ARE NOT TEMPORARY, they are PERMANENT.’’???????

”The drug is administered by dropping it into the target’s drink. The girl wouldn’t remember a thing the next morning, nothing at all that had taken place the night before will she remember. Rohypnol, dissolves rapidly and easily in drinks, leaving no taste and no change in color which makes it impossible to detect. These weasels can get this drug from anyone who is in the vet school or any medical university. It’s that easy and Rohypnol is about to break out big on campuses everywhere.

Believe it or not, there are even sites on the internet telling people how to use it. Girls, please be careful when you’re out, especially on a date, don’t leave your drink unattended.(Buy your own drinks, ensure bottles or cans received are unopened or sealed; don’t even taste someone else’s drink).There has already been a report in Nigeria of girls’ drinks being spiked by Rohypnol.

Only Rohypnol was mentioned here but there is more use of Gamma-hydroxybutyric acid, also refers to GHB for rape. In fact is on the top list of drug use for rape victim. Its primary function is to help those with depression. It causes the following to happen after use; drowsiness, forgetfulness, and loss of muscle tone to seizure-like activity, slowed heartbeat and breathing, and coma and oxygen might be needed at times. The coma can lasts for one to two hours, but it fully leaves the body after 8 hours. In cases of rape, once is slipped into the drink, the victim will not remember anything and by morning the effect are gone with full recovery usually occurring by eight hours. In the date-rape scenario, it is often slipped into a victim’s drink. It completely kills the smell of alcohol and parents will not perceive any smell by the time their daughter return.

Rohypnol also known as flunitrazepam; a tranquilizing agents which is use as anesthesia before surgery. The side effects include; low blood pressure, dizziness, confusion, visual disturbances, inability to urinate fully, and, in some users, aggressive behavior. Its effects last for 8 hours and comes with headache, tension, extreme anxiety, restlessness, muscle pain, light sensitivity, numbness and tingling of arms and legs, and even seizures. When it used for rape they act as sedative and muscle relaxant and overdose can cause lack of muscle control, amnesia, loss of inhibitions, and loss of consciousness. It starts working after 30 minutes with peak effect at two hours. The effects are usually worsened with alcohol. It can last for 8 hours to 12 hours. It detection in the body is difficult especially if small quantity is used but some special laboratories can still do.
