Hormones are vital components of the human system. There are various forms of hormones in the body with each performing specific role. Generally, hormones are responsible growth and development, metabolism, reproductive and sexual functions as well as mood regulation in the body.
However, if there is shortage of hormone production in the body, it will result in one problem or the other. In order to prevent the possible complication arising from inadequate supply of hormone in the body, there is need to supplement the body system with growth hormone injections.
The pituitary gland is the most important of all glands in the body that produce hormones. It does not only control other glands but also produces the hormone that influences growth. The pituitary gland is located in the brain which releases hormone in response to chemical reactions from the hypothalamus.
Functions or Uses of Human Growth Hormone
The human growth hormone is highly responsible for the increase in height and building of bones and muscles in the body. It is mostly needed to enhance growth especially in children.
The uses of HGH in the body are not limited only to enhancing only; they are also involved in varying functions in the body including the processing of protein, fat-tracking the breakdown of fat and supplying the necessary energy for tissue growth.
Symptoms of HGH deficiency
Growth deficiency becomes visible from the age of 2 or 3 in children when some may experience restricted growth while some may not witness any growth. Impaired hair growth, delayed puberty and chubby body are some of the symptoms of HGH deficiency in children.
In adults, permanent damage to the pituitary gland is responsible for the absence of growth hormone. Common symptoms include weaken muscles and bones, high deposit of fat, anxiety and depression, fatigue, loss of concentration and minimal ability to think.
Conditions requiring human growth hormone treatment
Growth hormone deficiency arises as a result of a combination of one or more hormone deficiencies. These conditions are as follows:
Underdeveloped sexual characteristics in female known as Turner’s syndrome.
,Genetic disorder that resulted in muscle tone weakness, persistent feeling of hunger, retarded growth and delayed development referred to as Prader-Willi syndrome.
Genetic disorder that disrupts development of several parts of the body referred to as Noonan syndrome.
Chronic kidney disease
