Symptoms of common Milk Allergies in children

A milk allergy is primarily linked to alpha S1-casein protein in cow milk. It is a condition resulting from an immune reaction to one of the many proteins in animal milk. About eight foods are known to cause allergic reactions in young children. Cow’s milk is the leading cause of allergic reaction; others are eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, soy, fish, shellfish and wheat.

 

Symptoms

Skin rash
Abdominal cramps
Loose bloody stool
Diarrhea
Occasional cough
Runny nose
Inability to gain weight and height
Vomiting
Hives
Anaphylactic shock

 

Rice Milk
Allergy from rice is least common than milk, this is why parents choose to give their children rice milk.
Symptoms of rice allergy include:
Redness of the skin
Rashes
Hives
Inflammation
Stuffy nose
Anaphylaxis

 

Breast Milk Allergies

Breastfeeding remains the best source of nutrients for the baby as it assists the baby to develop defenses for any allergies. However, a mother who consumes cow milk exposes the child to alpha S1-casein thereby leading to a reaction in an allergic baby. It is highly recommended that nursing mother should breast feed for at least 6 months from the birth of the baby.

Runny nose
Wheezing
Abdominal pain
Diarrhea
Swollen lips
