The bacterial infection with mild sickness mostly common in older children and yong adults is mycoplasma pneumonia. It causes infection in the lung when there is respiratory disorder in the upper part in the airways. It is a respiratory infection.
Older adults and people with weak immune system have higher risk of mycoplasma pneumoniae infection than others. The infection occurs mostly in crowded areas like schools, nursing homes, market and so on. It does not spread easily like other types of respiratory infections.

Symptoms
Some of the common symptoms of this infection include sore throat, nausea, tiredness, prolonged cough, headache, fluctuation breathing, higher heart rate, loss of appetite, excessive sweating, and shivering.

Complications

Having a lung disease such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease will require proper monitoring in order to degenerate into serious condition. Being old and having a weakened immune system can also predispose one to further complication like severe pneumonia and inflammation of the brain. However, its complications are very rare.

Diagnosis
One important way to have the condition diagnosed is the review of the patient medical history. This will be followed by examination of the lung to check for any infection through chest and throat examinations. X-ray images test in more severe cases of pneumonia may be done. Diagnosing pneumonia as caused by M. pneumoniae usually only happens after other types of pneumonia have been ruled out. This might happen when the pneumonia has failed to respond to the usual treatment, which is designed to kill other types of bacteria.

Treatment
It is interesting to note that the condition most times is gone without any medical intervention, it just run it full course without any health problems to the patient.
However, it must be stated emphatically here that adequate rest and increasing intake of fluid assist or enhance the capacity of the immune system to combat the infection.

Also, if there are symptoms such as headache or sore throat, it is essential to use appropriate over-the-counter medication. In addition to the above, people with breath difficulty will benefit from hospitalization for intensive and proper monitoring and management.
