My doctor has advised me to do fibroid surgery, is the surgery really necessary?

Question: My doctor has advised me to do fibroid surgery and he said that that is the reason why I am not getting pregnant. I am afraid of undergoing surgery. Is the surgery really necessary? What can I do?
Doctors Response:

Fibroids have been associated with infertility and myomectomy ( surgical removal of fibroids) have been associated with 50-65% chances of conception. However, not all fibroids deserves attention and removal. Fiboids located inside the womb and distorting the inner of the womb requires removal while those located outside the walls of the womb don’t necessarily need removal. I will recommend a proper evaluation using transvaginal scan ± hysteroscopy to determine this and other fertility assessment to rule out other causes of infertility.
