The 26-year-old woman who received the U. S first uterus transplant made a surprise appearance today at the Cleveland Clinic conference with her husband and said she has decided to make a public appearance. The couple revealed their first name as Lindsey and Blake. She expressed her appreciation for this priceless gift.
“They have provided me with a gift that I will never be able to repay, and I am beyond thankful,” Lindsey said. “The reason I chose to speak today is because I want to be open and honest and to share my story.” She got to know at age 16 of her inability to have children. “From that moment on, I prayed that God would allow me the opportunity to experience pregnancy,” she said. “Here we are today at the beginning of that dream.”They had adopted three children before this time and promised to update the public about the outcome.
Lindsey will return to the hospital monthly for testing until pregnancy, doctors said.
The first world uterus transplant took place in Sweden in 2014 and the recipients conceived with the uterus.
