In the Heart Saving Initiatives of MTN Foundation, Meets Little Jamiu whose Development is impeded by his Heart Condition

Mrs Aminat Oyagbola; head of MTN corporate services and human resources and Mrs Nonny Ogboma; head of MTN foundation’ today presented 28 international passports belonging to 14 children with various heart conditions and that of  their guardian who will accompany them for the medical heart surgery in India. Mrs Aminat appreciated the beneficiaries and thanked MTN for rendering medical help at this time.

Mrs Nonny wishes the beneficiaries a successful journey to and fro. During her speech, she mentioned that about 50 beneficiaries had enjoyed these opportunities since the inception of MTN foundation. She commented that the beneficiaries had earlier been medically examined in a hospital in Lagos to further re-examine the patients’ health status.

Emobileclinic interviewed some of the beneficiaries who narrated their ordeals which include finance and the pain their children go through because of heart the problem.


One of them was Mrs Nana Musa who is the mother of the 3 year’s old little boy Jamiu, said she discovered her son medical problem in 2013 when she noticed that he has a very slow  development. She had been shuttling between Kogi, Ilorin and Abuja for series of medical tests (ECG & ECO) and attention since then. ‘My son under goes blood exchange at times every month  when his PCV is low ‘she said. Her doctor told her about MTN foundation and she went on line for the form. All the beneficiaries said they filled MTN form online and was surprised to be called despite the fact that they did not know any staff of MTN. Another beneficiary Mr Musa Odecheneme from Kogi State whose daughter has a hole in the heart since infant, explained that they could not afford the cost of the surgery(N2,500,000) in Nigeria and it was misery that his daughter is still alive. They were all very happy and grateful to MTN for this heart saving initiative.
