Question: Hi, I want to know if there is a relationship between family planning methods and fibroids? This is because I was advised by my Dr to go for a family planning methods that makes my monthly flow stop due to the heavy and long days (12) I go through whenever am seeing my period. I will appreciate your response soon enough, thank you.

There is no relationship between family planning and fibroids. However, the levonorgestrel intrauterine system (LNG-IUS) and oral combined pills are used to manage heavy menstrual flow. This is the rational behind your doctor prescribing such treatment plan.
